The banquet was a most excellent one , and the usual loyal , Grand Lodge , Provincial Grand Lodge , and personal toasts were honoured , and some good singing enlivened the proceedings , which were both harmonious and pleasurable .

WILMINGTON . Walsingham Lodge ( No . 2148 ) . —The installation meeting of this flourishing lodge was held on Saturday , the 4 th instant , at the Masonic Hall . After the usual business of the lodge , Bro . VV . Rowley , P . M . 1924 , W . M ., performed the ceremony of installing his successor , Bro . D . G . Imlay , S . VV ., VV . M . elect , in a

manner which was at once perfect and impressive , the various addresses being delivered with that depth of feeling which is one of the characteristics of Bro . Rowley ' s excellent working . Thefollowingofficers wereappointedand invested : Bros . F . M . Noakes , S . W . ; C . Blyton , J . W . ; Rev . R . Jamblin , M . A ., P . M ., P . P . G . Chaplain , Chaplain ; C . L . The lodge having been closed , the brethren , by invitation of Bro . the Rev . R . Jamblin , repaired to the grounds of the adjacent vicarage , and the members of the lodge , with their visitors , were grouped together and photographed by

Messrs . Elliot and I'ry . A return was effected to the banquet hall , which had been liberally festooned and decorated for the occasion with a gay display of banners and etceteras , under the superintendence of Bro . Beaufort . An excellent repast was furnished , and when this had been partaken of , the W . M . introduced the time-honoured toasts customary on such

. The toast of "The Queen and the Craft " having been duly honoured , that of "The M . W . G . M . " was very cordially given , and enthusiastically received . The toast of "The Prov . Grand Master , the Deputy Prov . Grand Master , and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was responded to somewhat at

length by Bro . T . S . Warne , P . P . S . G . W ., who , in the course of a witty and facetious speech , made many references in terms of praise to the excellencies of the Walsingham Lodge . He had attended on the happy occasion of the consecration of that lodge , and from then till now he had always been impressed with the good feeling and unanimity which existed between the VV . M . and his officers and the

brethren . He therefore had reason to hope that the W . M . of that year would have a prosperous term of office , and that he would get every support from those who rallied round him . Bro . Rev . R . Jamblin also responded for this toast . Bro . W . Rowley , I . P . M ., in proposing "The Health of the W . M ., " said he wished he could have deputed their

Bro . Warne to take his place to propose that toast , because he could do so with much more eloquence than himself , but he could not infuse into it more heartfelt feeling . The I . P . M . had privileges in the lodge which no other member had . Out of the lodge he also had privileges , and one he valued very highly was to hold the gavel and propose the W . M . ' s health . Bro . Imlay was the first initiate

of that lodge . He recollected very well the great nervousness he displayed when he was initiated and first introduced to Masonry , but he had got over that now . Bro . Imlay had done all that he could to render himself proficient and capable to maintain the position he now held . He had prepared himself by regularly attending the Clarence Lodge of Instruction , of which Bro . Kirby was the able and

successful Preceptor . Bro . Imlay would certainly prove a most efficient Master in that lodge . They all knew what a kind and hearty fellow he was . He felt quite sure that if the lodge always had as good a Master as Bro . Imlay it would continue to prosper for all time . They all wished him a very prosperous and successful year of office . Bro . Imlay , in reply , assured the brethren that when

Masonry was joined by a man late in life he found it far more difficult to learn its beautiful ceremonies then than it would have been many jears earlier , but he intended to completely master them , and on his becoming replete with such knowledge he was sure he would be found a perfect martinet among them . While responding to that toast he would make a special appeal to his officers . He implored any

of them who were not perfect to lose no time in attending a lodge of instruction , and the one he recommended was the Clarence , which he would match against any lodge of instruction in the kingdom . He thanked Bro . Rowley especially and the brethren very heartily for the kind manner in which his health had been proposed and the toast accepted and responded to .

The toast of " Ihe Visitors" came next , which was responded to by Bro . Kirby , who thanked the VV . M . for the many kind words he had spoken of the visitors . It could only be a great pleasure to any brother to attend as a visitor at the Walsingham Lodge . The ceremonies of that day had been excellently done , and would be a pleasing recollection for a long time to come .

Bro . Imlay , in approaching what he deemed was the toast of the evening , acknowledged his complete inability to do that toast the justice he would wish—he wasaboutto propose "The I . P . M ., Bro . Kowley . " In parting with Bro . Rowley as their Master the brethren he knew would feel as if they were parting with a part of themselves . He had come to be considered as the father of that lodge . Whenever assistance or advice was wanted they at once appealed to

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

Bro . Rowley , and he at once responded to the appeal . A recent very severe illness had left him in a weak condition . It was only his respect for the members of that lodge , and he hoped a little specially for himself , that had dragged him from his home that night . It gave him great pleasure to invest Bro . Rowley with the jewel of a Past Master . He spoke with feelings of affection , and those few words were

straight from the heart . He should always remember the associations of that evening , and the brethren who so earnestly wished them all good things . Bro . VV . Rowley , in reply , said he did not know how to sufficiently thank the VV . M . for the kind way in which he had proposed his health . When he looked around and saw such dear friends as most of them were , his tongue failed

to express the pleasures he had enjoyed with them during the past year . He was always happy in the Walsingham Lodge ; he was one of its founders , and as long as T . G . A . O . T . U . spared him he would take the greatest interest in everything conducive to its welfare . He wished to take that opportunity of thanking his officers for the loyal support accorded to him by them during his term of

office , of thanking the Past Masters for their assistance during that period , of thanking the members who had accepted his rulings so kindly , and of thankingthe visitors who had come to their lodge , and cheered and encouraged them in their Masonic work . He must also thank the

brethren for the very handsome jewel , which he was indeed proud to receive , as also for the unexpected , though much appreciated , present made him in the lodge of a Past Master ' s collar and collar jewel appended to the same . A long and excellent programme of music and recitation was provided under the direction of Bro . Reddall , P . M .
