Chappie was ( then presented for installation by Bro . Stephens , P . M ., D . C , and was duly installed as W . M . by the retiring Master , Bro . Coleman . The following officers were invested : Bros . C

Coleman , I . P . M . ; M . Rosenberg , S . W . ; T . Grant , J . W . ; W . Langridge , Treas . ; Geo . Read , P . M ., Sec ; Rev . W . C . Heaton , Chap . ; E . G . A . Churchman , S . D . ; R . M ., then said that at the last regular lodge meeting it was suggested that the

members should give some tangible expression , in addition to their hearty good wishes , of their esteem for the W . M . on the occasion of his marriage . The whole of the brethren very heartily acquiesced in the suggestion . In the outside world Bro . Chappie , W . M ., was respected by everyone with whom he came in contact , and he ( Bro . Stephens ) was proud of having introduced into Freemasonry one so

worthy and capable . Since his entry into Freemasonry , their W . M . had shown good qualities , which had endeared him to the brethren , and there was nothing more pleasing than to see that recognised by his brethren in Masonry , and particularly the members of the lodge in which he was initiated . He asked the W . M . to accept the present , with the best wishes of the members , for the future prosperity of

himself and his wife , and he hoped they would both live long to look upon the little memento with pride . The presentation consisted of a very handsome clock and side ornaments , the former bearing the following inscription " Presented to Bro . Wm . Chappie , on his installation as W . Master , by the brethren of the Hyde Park Lodge , No . 1425 , as a token of their regard and esteem on his marriage ,

wishing him every happiness and success in his new life . May 4 th , 1 S 93 . " Bro . Wm . Chappie , W . M ., said that in accepting that very handsome earnest of their good wishes on the occasion of his marriage , he would only ask them to excuse his want of words , and simply thank them . The suddenness with which this mine had been sprung upon him was sufficient reason for his brevity . He should value it very

highly , for it was flattering to know one held the esteem of the brethren . On behalf of himself and his wife , he thanked them for the great kindness extended towards them . A sum of 10 guineas was voted to be placed on the list of Bro . Gellion , P . M ., for the R . M . I , for Boys , and the lodge was closed . After a substantial repast the usual toasts were honoured .

Bro . C . Coleman , I . P . M ., in proposing " The Health of the W . M ., " said brethren could not leave the chair without a feeling of regret , especially when they had been supported as well as he had been during the past year , but that regret was tempered by ( he knowledge that ( lie work would be taken up by so efficient a brother as the present W . M . In liro . Chappie they had a W . M . who would carry on the

record of the lodge to the greatest perfection , and he entertained no doubt that during the coming year the lodge would continue to prosper . Bro . Wm . Chappie , W . M ., returned thanks , and said he hoped he should lealise the good things expected of him , and have as successful a year as the past had been . If work was given him he would carry it out to the best of his ability , and was sure the officers would cordially support him .

" The Visitors was next given , and replied to by Bros . W . W . Lee , W . M . 23 . S 1 ; U . R . Thomas , 511 ; and H . Dehane , P . M . 1543 . The W . M . then proposed "The l . P . M . and Installing Master , " and said that during the past 12 months Bro . Coleman had conducted the affairs of the lodge not only

with credit to himself , but also to the Hyde Park Lodge . The I . P . M . had followed out the details of Freemasonry in the best manner possible , and it had been a pleasure for him ( the W . M . ) to be one of his officers . Time would not allow him to refer to the I . P . M . ' s many excellences ; he would , therefore , proceed to give him the jewel he had so well earned . Ho had , therefore , great pleasure in pinning

upon Bro . Coleman ' s breast the token given by the lodge , which no Past Master had more thoroughly earned . He hoped that for many years the Great Architect would allow the I . P . M . to wear the jewel in their lodge . Bro . C Coleman , I . P . M ., in response , said that during his year of office he had received nothing but kindness from every member of that lodge , and that had culminated in

the jewel presented to him that evening . He appreciated it very much , and also the Past Master ' s collar and jewel subscribed for by the members , which was presented in the lodge room . At that late hour it was not needful for him to inflict along speech , but would only thank them one and all for the manner in which they had received him . The Worshipful Master nextsubmitted the toast of " The

Past Masters , " and said they were not only ornamental , but also very useful . It was through the instrumentality of one of the Past Masters—Bro . James Stephens—that he became a Mason , and he was initiated b y him into the lodge . He was the first of Bro . Stephens' initiates who had attained the chair . Bro . James Stephens , P . M ., replied , and said it was very

evident from the large assemblage of Past Masters present that they had in their hearts one chord that beat strongly towards the W . M ., for whom they predicted a prosperous year . Nothing would be wanting on their parts to render the W . M . every assistance , although he was assured it would not be required . It was indeed a very pleasing thing to know that the W . M . was the first of his own initiates

who had attained the honourable position of W . M . It had been pleasant in the extreme to watch the interest Bro . Chappie had taken in Freemasonry and the way in which he had risen step by step in the lodge . Bro . Gellion , P . M ., had told them he was going up as Steward for the Boys' School , and he hoped the response of the members would be a liberal one . It was his earnest hope—as it was the wish of all—that Bro , Gellion would take up to the

j noble Institution as goodly a list as was possible from such a small lodge as theirs . Bro . Capt . E . M . Money , P . G . Stwd ., acknowledged "The Masonic Charities , " , and "The Officers" having been given , an enjoyable evening terminated with the Tyler ' s toast . Under the direction of Bro . T . Spink a musical programme was carried out by Miss Annie Northcroft , Miss Ida Price , Mr . Howden Tingey , and Bros . Wilford Price and Churchman .

Derby Allcroft Lodge ( No . 2168 ) . — A regular meeting of this highly successful lodge was held at the Midland Grand Hotel , St . Pancras , on the 1 ith inst . Bro . W . F . Lord , W . M ., was supported by Bros . J . P . Harding , I . P . M . ; Wm . Thomas , P . M ., S . W . ; J . W . Dixon , P . M ., J . W . ; E . Y . Jolliffe , P . P . S . G . W ., Treas . ; R . D . 23 S 1 ; and others . After the formal opening of the lodge , the minutes were confirmed . Bros . James , Walmsley , Field , and Baron were then raised tothe Third Degree , the W . M . rendering the ritual in a very impressive manner , and being well sup ported by the various officers . The resignation of Bro . H . Halliday , P . M ., was received with regret , and the lodge was

closed . After an excellent banquet the customary toasts were honoured . Bro . J . V . Abraham , P . G . P ., replied for "The Grand Officers , " and said it was a task of increasing responsibility to respond for the toast . The appreciation of the brethren was an earnest that they were satisfied with the manner in

which the duties of the Grand Officers were performed . He was sure that not only those who had been appointed as additional Grand Officers , but others who had been placed in office were desirous of doing their duties , and of doing the best they could for the benefit of the Craft . Those who , like himself , left office carried with them a desire to continue their efforts on behalf of the Craft , for they felt

they ought to do something to merit those kind sentiments , warm receptions , and hospitable entertainments so frequently placed before them . Bro . J . P . Harding , I . P . M ., gave "The Health of the Worshipful Master , " and said that one and all in the lodge were pleased and proud to see Bro . Lord in the position he occupied , and pleased to honour the toast , and thus

acknowledge his worthiness to fill the post of W . M . Bro . Lord filled the chair in a manner worthy of that lodge , than which no higher praise could be bestowed . Bro . W . F . Lord , W . M ., said it had been very gratifying to him to meet with such kindness as he always received in that lodge . He would not waste their time with lengthy remarks , but ask them to accept his sincere

acknowledgments and appreciation of their kindness , and thank them most heartily . The W . Master then proposed "The Visitors , " and on behalf of the lodge tendered them a hearty welcome . Bro . W . Hilberand , 1237 ; S . R . Lamb , P . M . 27 ; and C . F . Quicke , P . M . 1031 , replied in suitable terms , each following the excellent example set by the W . M . in the

brevity of his remarks . Bro . J . P . Harding , I . P . M ., acknowledged the toast of "The I . P . M . and Past Masters , " and expressed his pride at being in a position to respond . He was glad to be succeeded by a W . M . who conducted not only the ceremonies , but the whole of the arrangements in a

businesslike manner , and was pleased that Uro . Lord would before long join the Past Masters . ft was not an easy matter to pass through the chair in a creditable manner , for the position of W . M . was a most onerous one . He thanked the W . M . for coupling his name , and as long as he lived he hoped to remain a member of the lodge , and be as well received as he had been that evening .

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

Bro . J . P . Fitzgerald , P . M „ also replied . He said that so far as the lodge was concerned , he regretted that the column of Past Masters had been reduced by one by the resignation of Bro . Halliday , P . M ., who was one of the founders , and had borne the heat and burden of the day . As far as he was personally concerned , they had heard his voice so often in reply , that it was not necessary to dwell

upon the toast . He was always striving to do his best for the lodge , and for every Master of it . The present W . M . deserved the best feelings of the members , whose bounden duty it was to support him . With regard to the Past Masters , every W . M . could rely upon their earnest and sincere support . " The Treasurer and Secretary" and "The Officers "

afforded the W . M . an opportunity of referring to the excellent services rendered by the brethren in their various positions , and of thanking them for their cordial support , after which the Tyler ' s toast terminated the proceedings . A novelty was introduced into the musical programme in

the form of a concert trombone quartette , which rendered several selections to the gratification of the brethren . Bro . James contributed a bassoon solo , Bro . R . B . Creak , a violin solo , and Bros . Barry , Lindon , and Goddard , vocal items . Bro . Dr . Haskins , Org ., presided at the pianoforte throughout a thoroughly enjoyable and pleasant entertainment .

Bro . the Earl of Euston then assumed the chair , and Bro . E . J .

Conlon having been presented as W . M . elect , he was duly installed into the chair . The following officers were elected : Bro . Sir S . Northcote , S . W . ; Dr . Stewart Brown , J . W . ; C F . Matter , P . G . Std . Br ., Treas . ; A . R . Carter , P . M ., Sec ; H . J . Rolls , S . D . ; Gordon Miller , J . D . j Major Clifford Probyn , D . C . ; W . Dixon and W . Pallant , Stwds . ; and Goddard , Tyler . The usual addresses were delivered

by Bros . C . F . Matter , P . M ., and A . R . Carter , P . M . The W . M . presented Bro . H . J . Hitchins , I . P . M ., with a Past Master ' s jewel , which was opportunely acknowledged . Bro . C . F . Matter , P . G . Std . Br ., then proposed that the sum of 30 guineas should be voted from the lodge funds to be devoted , conjointly , with the Grafton Mark Lodge , in the presentation of a portrait of the Earl of Euston , to be hung

in the Mark Grand Lodge as a memorial of his untiring efforts in connection with the Craft at large . Bro . A . R . Carter , P . M ., Sec , seconded the proposition , which was carried unanimously . Bro . Major N . Newnham Davis , 102 ( 1 , was elected a joining member , and the lodge was closed . After a rccherchi banquet at Freemasons' Tavern , the customary loyal and Masonic toasts were heartily honoured .

" I he Queen and the Craft " and "H . R . I I . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M ., " were first given b y the W . M ., who then proposed " The Grand Officers . " He said that during the few years he had been a Mason he had never ceased to admire the manner in which the Grand Officers not only did the duties they were called upon and expected to do , but the sacrificing manner in which they went out of their

way to benefit the Craft . As W . M . he thought he should add a few special words on behalf of the Grafton Lodge . There was no young lodge that had benefited so much t > y the kindness and generosity of those eminent Masons as their lodge . The Grand Officers attended the consecrating in large numbers and had since gathered round to grace the lodge with their presence . He would ask the brethren

to drink the toast with full honours and the gratitude and good feeling it deserved . Bro . the Earl of Euston , Prov . G . M . Norths and Hunts , thanked the W . M . for his very kind words respecting the Grand Officers . He thought he could answer for one thing that all the Grand Officers present felt the same as he did and had the absolute interest and advancement of the Craft at heart , and would do anything they could for that object .

It was not an inconvenience but a pleasure to visit that lodge and see it advancing and progressing as it was doing . He took a particular interest in that lodge although he had not filled the chair in it . He was quite certain when Uro . Matier filled the first chair that the work would be properly done . So far as the Grand Officers were concerned , he was certain thev would be deliirhted to come again and iee the

W . M . carry out the work . He congratulated Bro . Conlon , W . M ., on the honour he had attained , and the lodge in having a Master whose heart and soul was in his worn , which he would do thoroughly . Bro . H . J . Hitchins , I . P . M ., said it was h s ;> > 11 privilege to propose "The Health of the W . M . ' lU " ^ known Bro . Conlon for some years , and had always found him a thoroughly good fellow . the lodge could not have

ch > sen a b-tter man ai Master , for he was always willmiJ' ? do hi ¦ wjik . He asked all present to drink the health ot the W . M . with good wishes for his year of office . Bro . E . J . Conlon , W . M ., thanked the I . P . M . ( or »' flattering' terms in which he had proposed the tuast , ana the brethren for the equally kind and generous manner i " which it had been received . It would be dilliculc for him to

tell them how proud hi was in filling the chair . It had been his aspiration , although hi did not dream of its being so quickly fulfilled . Although he might not do as well « others had done , yet so far as he could he would leave in record of the lodge and itsescutcheon unsullied . It a PPf * fi , to him that that toast was so intimately associated with W " next , that he would immediately proceed to propose it .

Coleman , I . P . M . ; M . Rosenberg , S . W . ; T . Grant , J . W . ; W . Langridge , Treas . ; Geo . Read , P . M ., Sec ; Rev . W . C . Heaton , Chap . ; E . G . A . Churchman , S . D . ; R . Edridge , J . D . ; J . Jervis , I . G . j James Stephens , P . M ., D . C . ; A . Edy , B . Cox , and T . Spink , Stwds . ; J . Lee , Tyler . Bro . Jas . Stephens , P .

Bro . J .

Bro . Dr . Haskins , Org ., presided at the pianoforte throughout a thoroughly enjoyable and pleasant entertainment .

by Bros . C .
