M ., the latter assumed thc chair and proceeded to install Bro . Stevens as W . M . The officers appointed to assist him in the xvork

VV . ; Collier , J . VV . ; Handel , Treas . ( by deputy ); Forge , Sec . ; Warner , S . D . ; Hickinbotham , J . D . ; Finch , LG . j Porter , Org . ; _ Hill , D . of C ; and Given , A . W . S . Upon the conclusion of thc ceremony a vote of thanks xvas passed by acclamation to VV . Bro . Thrupp for the excellent manner

in which he had performed the ceremony of installation . The D . P . G . M . having returned thanks then retired . Bro . Forge having been elected to represent the lodge at thc next festival ofthe Girls' School , Bro . Walls moved "That the sum of five guineas be taken from the lodge funds and placed upon the list of Hro . Forge , P . M . " This was seconded by Bro . Goodchild , and unanimously passed . Previously to the lodge being closed a vote of thanks xvas

passed and ordered to be entered on thc minutes , and a copy sent to Bro . Beauchamp "for the very zealous and admirable manner in xvhich he had discharged thc duties of Treasurer , and expressing the great regret of thc members of thc lodge that his removal from thc nei g hbourhood of Teddington should havc necessitated his resignation of the ofiice of Treasurer . I . P . M . The VVorshipful Master in reply expressed thc great gratification he felt at being elected to fill the important position of Master in solargcand prosperous a lodge as No . 1 793 had become . As one of its founders he xvas naturally interested in its progress , and xvas proud of its present flourishing condition . In concluding his remarks he said that he looked forxvard to having plenty of xvork to do , and he hoped

that at thc conclusion of his year of oilice the brethren xvould havc no cause of complaint . " Thc Past Masters " folloxved , and xvas acknoxvledged by Bros . Goodchild , Forge , and Piller . " 'The Visitors " came next in order , and dicxv from VV . Bro . Elsam an able and exhaustive reply . The Prov . G . M . in responding said he felt that day most grateful . For some time he had been doubtful xvhether he should sec his son restored to health , but , by God ' s blessing , he had recovered , and he felt thankful to find him installed as VV . M . of thc lodge . For his oxvn part he xx-as also pleased to be once more among them , and he trusted they xvould , with him , endeax-our to act as loyal men and Masons , upholding the constitution and the Craft .

The VVorshipful Master proposed " VV . Bro . J . IT . Scott , D . P . G . M ., and the Ollicers of Prov . Grand Lodge , Present and Past . " He regretted thc absence of his friend , Bro . Scott . Responses xvere given by Bros . VV . II . Gibson , G . Ford , and V . P . Freeman . Bro . T . Packham proposed " The W . M ., and Success to Burrell Lodge , 1 S 29 , " referring in feeling terms to thc serious illness Bro . C . R . Burrell had

recently pacsed through . The VVorshipful Master responded , and xvas deeply moved by the hearty and enthusiastic xvelcome accorded him . He thanked the ofiicers and brethren of the lodge for their kind sympathy and support , and felt indeed proud that he had elicited from all such evidences of brotherly love . Bro . C . I . Davidson , a report of the Finance Committee meeting xvas given showing thc

lodge to be in a highly satisfactory financial condition . The ballot xvas then taken for five joining members , who were all elected . 'There xvcre four candidates for initiation , viz ., Messrs . J . O . Davidson , J . II . Shotton , John Moralec , and Robert Rcadhead , and thc ceremony xvas performed in an efficient manner by the VV . M ., assisted by Bros . Coulson , I . P . M ., P . P . G . J . D ., and J . J . Athey , P . M ., together xvith the ofiicers , theancient charge to E . A . being

impressively delivered by Bro . Joseph Robertson , P . AL , P . P . G . Purst ., D . of C . The solemnity of thc ceremony xvas greatly enhanced by the vocal services of Bros . K . Dexvar , G . II . Heslop , VV . Ryder , J . T . Ross , and others , under the direction of Bro . E . J . Gibbon , P . M ., P . P . G . O . Northumberland , Organist of thc lodge . Bro . R . Hudson , Prov . Grand Sec , announced that the nexv Books of Constitutions xvcre ready , and trusted that thc

brethren xvould take an early opportunity of making themselves conversant xvith them , lie congratulated the lodge on the position it had taken up in the province , and informed the brethren that on the previous day the R . VV . Prov . Grand Master , thc Most Noble the Marquess of Londonderry , had enquired hoxv the youngest ledge of thc province was going on . 'The Prov . Grand Sec expressed himself as having the satisfaction to speak xvell of thc

progress of the Hadrian to his lordship , and had no doubt that at the next Provincial Grand Lodge meeting a favourable report xvould be sent up . An interesting presentation xvas made to the lodge by Bro . J . Heppell , Sec . This xvas an elegantly framed photograph of thc address to his Royal Highness the Duke of Albany , P . G . M . Oxford , on the occasion of his recent visit to Special Prov . Grand Lodge at Durham . The donor

announced the fact that he had been the recipient of the photograph from Bro . Hudson , and xvith his approval had determined to have it suitably mounted and present it to the lodge . The VV . M . in felicitous terms accepted the gift on behalf of the brethren , and trusted that it xvould have an honourable place on the walls of the projected new Masonic Hall .

Several propositions of nexv members xvcre handed in , and the proceedings xvere brought to a close . 'The large attendance of members and visitors precluded thc possibility of their being comfortably seated in the refreshment room of the old Freemasons' Hall . The brethren therefore adjourned to the Golden Lion Hotel xvhere a very pleasant and harmonious evening xvas spent under tke presidency of thc W . M .

Malta , on his return from Australia , and his installation xvas again unax'oidably postponed , to thc regret of all present . 'The M . E . Z . expressed to the companions the disappointment of the chapter at the projected entertainment of the M . E . Grand Superintendent , General Broivning , G . C . B ., and of thc M . E . P . G . IT ., Comp . Arnold , having fallen through , but gave their hopes that thc next

Grand Sec expressed himself as having the satisfaction to speak xvell of thc

progress of the Hadrian to his lordship , and had no doubt that at the next Provincial Grand Lodge meeting a favourable report xvould be sent up . An interesting presentation xvas made to the lodge by Bro . J . Heppell , Sec . This xvas an elegantly framed photograph of thc address to his Royal Highness the Duke of Albany , P . G . M . Oxford , on the occasion of his recent visit to Special Prov . Grand Lodge at Durham . The donor

announced the fact that he had been the recipient of the photograph from Bro . Hudson , and xvith his approval had determined to have it suitably mounted and present it to the lodge . The VV . M . in felicitous terms accepted the gift on behalf of the brethren , and trusted that it xvould have an honourable place on the walls of the projected new Masonic Hall .

Several propositions of nexv members xvcre handed in , and the proceedings xvere brought to a close . 'The large attendance of members and visitors precluded thc possibility of their being comfortably seated in the refreshment room of the old Freemasons' Hall . The brethren therefore adjourned to the Golden Lion Hotel xvhere a very pleasant and harmonious evening xvas spent under tke presidency of thc W . M .
