The following officers were invested : Bros . Dr . C . II . Y . Godwin , P . P . G . D . C . Kent , S . W . ( by proxy , he being at the present time on service in Egypt ); G . C . Mathams , J . H . the Duke of Albany , P . G . M . M . ol England , and also to the personal loss the brethren of the lodge had met with by the death

of Bro . Capt . J . J . Donally , of the O . S . Army Service Corps . 'The banquet was served in the hall by Bro . W . Moulder , of the Duke of Connaught Coffee Tavern , in rare style , and the cloth being cleared the VV . M . gave the usual loyal and Mark Masonic toasts , nor were the provincial toasts forgotten , the VV . M . eulogising in no measured terms the admirable Masonry of the esteemed Prov . G . M ., Bro . the Rev . T . Robinson , M . A ., whose health was drunk with

cheers . Bro . Jolly having responded to the toast , Bro . Sculley . I . P . M ., proposed "The Health of the W . M . " He said he felt assured that under the hands of llro . Clarke the lodge would lose none of its lustre , indeed he knew of no one so well qualified to add to the material prosperity of the lodge as their esteemed VV . M ., who was an old P . M . in the Craft and a rare lover of Masonry . Bro . Clarke said he rose with a great deal of pleasure to

thank them for their hearty reception of his name , and while he full y appreciated the honourable position he that day occupied , yet he would rather have seen their old friend and good brother Dr . Godwin in the chair , a position he would have held had not the call of duty taken him away on foreign service . He hoped , however , they would have Bro . Godwin with them b y that time next year , and that he might be spared to fill the chair of the Florence Nightingale

Lodge . He had received a letter from Bro . Gordon , who was in Egypt , in whicli he congratulated him ( Uro . Clarke ) on arriving at the chair , and wished him and the brethren a pleasant and prosperous year of office . For himself , he could assure them that he should do all in his power for the comfort and happiness of the brethren and the welfare of the lodge . In giving the toast of " The Visitors " the Worshipful

Master said they had a " Pope " with them that night who would not anathematize them as the Pope of Rome had done or was about to do . Their Pope was a genial hearted brother , whose presence they all delighted to honour and who had been faithful to the Florence Nightingale Lodges , both Craft and Mark , for years past . In Bro . Holleyman also they had a good Mason , and the VV . M . elect of a

neighbouring lodge ; let them therefore give their visitors a bumper . Bro . Pope , in a facetious speech , acknowledged the compliment , and Bro . Holleyman also briefly responded . "The Installing Officer" was the next toast , and Bro . Sweney returned thanks . " The Past Masters " and " Officers , " concluded the proceedings , which were most harmonious and enjoyable .

WOOLWICH . —Florence Nightingale Lodge ( No . 44 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge took place on the 15 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall , William-street , when Bro . Sidney Clarke , VV . M . elect , was , with the usual ceremony , placed in the chair as VV . M . for the ensuing 12 months . Bro . Capt . Eugene Swcny , P . M ., P . P . G . J . O . Kent , was the installing officer , and carried out the work admirably , although unprepared , as our late esteemed

Asst . Grand Secretary , Bro . I ) . Dewar , had promised to attend and perform the ceremony of installation , but unfortunatel y was at the time on that which proved to be his death bed . The following officers were invested : Bros . Dr . C . II . Y . Godwin , P . P . G . D . C . Kent , S . W . ( by proxy , he being at the present time on service in Egypt ); G . C . Mathams , J . VV . ; C . II . G . Risch , M . O . ; E . Denton , S . O . ; K . Ugland , J . O ., Sec ; Eugene

Swcny , P . M ., Treas , ; R . Pidcock , P . M ., Reg . of Mks . ; F . G . Nichols , S . D . ; E . Riddle , J . D . ; and J . Lackland , Tyler . Among other brethren present were Bros . C . Kent ( Freemason ) , and others . A Past Master ' s jewel , of the value of to guineas , was presented to Bro . Capt . J . Sculley , R . I I . A ,,

the ( . P . M ., as a token of the esteem in which he is held by the brethren , and for valuable services rendered the lodge by him during his year of ofiice , and Bro . Sculley returned thanks in suitable terms . Before the lodge was closed the VV . M . referred in feeling terms to the great loss the Order had sustained by the untimel y death of H . R . H . the Duke of Albany , P . G . M . M . ol England , and also to the personal loss the brethren of the lodge had met with by the death

of Bro . Capt . J .
