Provincial Meetings.

Guided , however , by the feelings of his heart as a Mason , and bearing in mind that beautiful ritual , he thought that as a Mason he could take it that the gift which he had the hig hest honour in accepting was given to him with the best wishes of the brethren of the Victoria Lodge , and that he should treasure it as a beautiful token of their regard for him , and especially valued their expression of good-will towards his children and home . The report of the Audit Committee was received and adopted . A vote of thanks was passed to the Installing Officer . Since the last meeting of the lodge Bro . R . Eales , P . M ., P . G . P ., an old initiate , has died . Out of respect for his memory the lodge was in mourning . A vote

of condolence to the widow and family of nine children , was passed with many individual expressions of regret . A vote of sympathy to the I . P . M ., Bro . John Smith , too ill to attend the lodge , and a vote of condolence to him upon the loss of his wife , were also passed . The presentation to him of a Past Master's jewel and collar of office was necessarily postponed . The W . M . having been elected to

represent the lodge as Steward for the Royal Mas-mic Institution for Giris , a notice of motion was given by the 'Treasurer to vote a sum of not less than £ 5 5 s . to his list . Apologies for non-attendance were received from Bros . R . II . Thrupp , D . P . G . M . ; R . VV . Forge , P . P . G . D . C ; J . Smith , I . P . M . ; E . Clark , P . M . ; P . Cromin , and others . The lodge was then closed .

A well-served banquet having been partaken of , the usual toasts followed . Bro . H . H . Room having given some interesting details of the prosperous state of Masonry in the province , touched upon the most vexed question of Provincial Grand LoHge honours . It was , he remarked , a most difficult matter for the chief of a province to select worthy Masons for certain

positions . It was very certain that all could not be Wardens and Deacons . As Masonry progressed , and he was pleased to say that in Middlesex it was making great strides , the difficulties would increase . In concluding his remarks , he said that he was always pleased to visit number 1 5 12 , because the true spirit of harmony and Masonry appeared to thoroughly prevail within its councils . He was

sorry that the lodge had lost one of its Past Masters , one of those brethren who , when the lowest position in the Provincial Grand Lodge was offered to him , cheerfully accepted it . If he ( the speaker ) could be of any assistance in securing the election of one or two children of the deceased to the Institution in October next , the lodge might command him .

Bro . Jessett proposed "The Health of the Worshipful Master . " He said that Bro . Clarke was an initiate of the lodge , and had thoroughly discharged all the minor offices to the satisfaction , not only of the respective Masters who had appointed him to office , but to the credit of the lodge . He had generously made the lodge the present of a die of the arms of the lodge , and had provided the menus and a most excellent programme of instrumental and vocal music .

He augured for him a most pleasant and successful year of office . 'I he Worshipful Master , in reply , briefly said that he would do his best to make the lodge happy during his year , lie hoped to have at least three initiates , and he trusted to be well supported by the Past Masters and officers . ' Ihe toast of "The Visitors" followed , and was replied hy Bros . Edgell , Gomme , Duncan , and Oliver .

The Health of the Past Masters " was coupled with the name of Bro . A . F . Scholding , who responded in a humorous vein . Bro . J . C . Jessett , P . M ., acknowledged the toast of" The I reasurer and Secretary . " He said that thc work of a large lodge like No . 1512 was by no means light . He had a great deal of correspondence , but it was nothing to be

compared with that of the Secretary . The brethren generall y would be conferring a favour upon him and his colleague if they would kindly respond with alacrity to the demands of the Treasurer ' s key . Bro . G . Ransford , P . M ., responded to the toast of " The Masonic Charities , " and Bros . Robinson and 'Trotter for "Ihe Officers . "

A varied musical programme was presented , in which ' > hssj . Hudson , L . A . M ., Bros . Powley , Abell , and Messrs . A . Gurney , A . C . O ., Richer , and Fell , particularly distinguished themselves . The lady ' s selection on the violin was greatl y apreciatcd .
