The half-yearly meeting of the shareholders of the Great Eastern Railway Company was held at the Cannon-street Hotel , on Tuesday , under the presidency of Bro . Lord Claud Hamilton . The report showed a balance of net revenue in favour of the company amounting to £ 122 , 7811 , as
compared with one of £ 260 , 0 ^ 5 for the correspjnding period of 1 S 92 , and a dividend ot 1 ' , per cent , per annum was recommended . Satisfactory reasons were given for the very great falling off in the revenue , and , after some discussion , the report was unanimously agreed to .

The report of the Royal Commission on the proposed Teaching University of London has now been signed , and will shortly be published . It is rumoured ( says the Lancet ) that the recommendations will include a reconstruction of the existing University of London ; increased powers to the teachers in the London colleges and medical schools ; a
division of students into metropolitan and provincial , with some alterations with regard to examinations ; a combination with the Royal College of Physicians of London and the Royal College of Surgeons of England to give a suitable pass degree to London medical students ; and tne appointment of a statutory commission with powers to carry out these recommendations .

But , speaking generally , the choir sang with good tone , discreet vigour , and creditable accuracy .
