Bro . J . Harris Stone , M . A ., proposed " The Visitors . " Bro . VV . R . McConnell , K . C , replied , and made an excellent and clever speech , which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who had the privilege of being present . He congratulated the Iodge on the way the Masonic work was always carried out . A charming -entertainment , under the direction of Bro . Henry Times , was much appreciated , and the programme contained many interesting numbers ; among others Mr . Frederic Upton recited some of his condensed novels and sketches ; Bro . Wilhelm
Ganz played a pianoforte solo ; Bro . Wallis Arthur sang humorous songs ; Bro . Franklin Clive sang ballads by Mendelssohn and others ; but the greatest treat of the evening was a recitation by Bro . James Fernandez , who enchanted everyone by his wonderful rendering of a short poem , entitled " The Pride of Battery B . " Bros . Edward Terry , P . G . Treas ., and Henry Neville , P . A . G . D . of C , wrote , much regretting that they were unavoidably prevented at the last moment attending this installation meeting , which they had both been looking forward to be present on tbat occasion .

A resolution was passed voting a sum of 30 guineas be given from the lodge to the Festival of the East Lancashire Systematic Masonic Educational and Benevolent Institution .
The lodge was then closed , and the brethren sat down to a sumptuous banquet , which had been provided for them in the dining hall . The toast ot " The King , Protector of the Craft , " was loyally honoured , and the National Anthem was sung . The other usual toasts were duly drunk and responded to . "The Health of the W . M . " was proposed and responded to .
Bro . Blackie , W . M ., in proposing "The Health of the I . P . M ., Bro . Walter Cockerham , " said it was his very pleasing duty to pin on his breast a handsome gold Past Master's jewel , which had been subscribed for by the brethren of the lodge , as a token ot the very high esteem in which he was held by them all , from the youngest to the oldest member of the lodge , and he hoped that he ( Bro . Cockerham ) would be spared a very long time to wear it , and to adorn the De Grey and Ripon Lodge roll of Past Masters . The I . P . M . responded in a very touching speech , thanking the brethren for the
beautiful jewel , and for the very kind words the W . M . had said on their behalf . The other usual toasts followed . The harmony was ably contributed to by Bros . Jones , Schofield , Richards , Cockerham , Derbyshire , Arnold , and Hartley . A special feature ot the evening was tbe very beautiful rendering of several songs by Miss Arnold , a treat the brethren were not slow at showing their appreciation of . The gold Past Master ' s jewel was designed and manufactured by Bros . George Kenning and Son , Manchester and London .

After " Hearty good wishes" from the numerous visitors thc lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the dining hall , where the visitors were entertained to dinner by the W . M . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

enthusiasm , and in responding Bro . Bland , W . M ., expressed his pleasure at seeing a large gathering of visitors and brethren of the lodge , and hoped they would all enjoy themselves . The W . M . concluded his remarks by intimating his intention of inviting "the ladies" to dine with the brethren after an emergent lodge which he intended to call to clear off some of the " arrears of work " on the 23 rd ult .

Craft Masonry.
Bro . J . Harris Stone , M . A ., proposed " The Visitors . " Bro . VV . R . McConnell , K . C , replied , and made an excellent and clever speech , which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who had the privilege of being present . He congratulated the Iodge on the way the Masonic work was always carried out . A charming -entertainment , under the direction of Bro . Henry Times , was much appreciated , and the programme contained many interesting numbers ; among others Mr . Frederic Upton recited some of his condensed novels and sketches ; Bro . Wilhelm
Ganz played a pianoforte solo ; Bro . Wallis Arthur sang humorous songs ; Bro . Franklin Clive sang ballads by Mendelssohn and others ; but the greatest treat of the evening was a recitation by Bro . James Fernandez , who enchanted everyone by his wonderful rendering of a short poem , entitled " The Pride of Battery B . " Bros . Edward Terry , P . G . Treas ., and Henry Neville , P . A . G . D . of C , wrote , much regretting that they were unavoidably prevented at the last moment attending this installation meeting , which they had both been looking forward to be present on tbat occasion .

The balance-sheet was read , and disclosed the lodge to be in a flourishing condition . A resolution was passed voting a sum of 30 guineas be given from the lodge to the Festival of the East Lancashire Systematic Masonic Educational and Benevolent Institution .
The lodge was then closed , and the brethren sat down to a sumptuous banquet , which had been provided for them in the dining hall . The toast ot " The King , Protector of the Craft , " was loyally honoured , and the National Anthem was sung . The other usual toasts were duly drunk and responded to . "The Health of the W . M . " was proposed and responded to .
Bro . Blackie , W . M ., in proposing "The Health of the I . P . M ., Bro . Walter Cockerham , " said it was his very pleasing duty to pin on his breast a handsome gold Past Master's jewel , which had been subscribed for by the brethren of the lodge , as a token ot the very high esteem in which he was held by them all , from the youngest to the oldest member of the lodge , and he hoped that he ( Bro . Cockerham ) would be spared a very long time to wear it , and to adorn the De Grey and Ripon Lodge roll of Past Masters . The I . P . M . responded in a very touching speech , thanking the brethren for the
beautiful jewel , and for the very kind words the W . M . had said on their behalf . The other usual toasts followed . The harmony was ably contributed to by Bros . Jones , Schofield , Richards , Cockerham , Derbyshire , Arnold , and Hartley . A special feature ot the evening was tbe very beautiful rendering of several songs by Miss Arnold , a treat the brethren were not slow at showing their appreciation of . The gold Past Master ' s jewel was designed and manufactured by Bros . George Kenning and Son , Manchester and London .

The working tools of an entered apprentice were explained by Bro . Hird , I . P . M ., and the charge in the First Degree was delivered by Bro . Hedley , S . W . After " Hearty good wishes" from the numerous visitors thc lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to the dining hall , where the visitors were entertained to dinner by the W . M . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .
"The Visitors" were proposed by Bro . Last , who , on behalf ofthe lodge , gave them a very cordial welcome . Bros . H . A . Johnson , W . M . 302 ; T . Holdsworth , W . M . Coo ; and Thomas Rhodes , W . M . 387 , respectively suitably responded to the toast . " The W . M . 's Health , " un tne proposition of Bro . Hird , I . P . M ., was drunk with
enthusiasm , and in responding Bro . Bland , W . M ., expressed his pleasure at seeing a large gathering of visitors and brethren of the lodge , and hoped they would all enjoy themselves . The W . M . concluded his remarks by intimating his intention of inviting "the ladies" to dine with the brethren after an emergent lodge which he intended to call to clear off some of the " arrears of work " on the 23 rd ult .
The toasts of "The Past Masters , " "The Officers of the Lodge , " and "The Initiates " were also duly honoured . The Tyler ' s toast brought to a close a very pleasant meeting .
